Ram Plan Co-Curricular Transcript Foundation
The Ram Plan is for co-curricular programs that are:
- Educational
- Offered on a regular basis
- Expected to last for multiple years
- Have learning goals and outcomes that remain fairly consistent.
The Ram Plan follows many of the essential elements outlined in the following articles:
- Kerr, K. G., & Tweedy, J. (2006). Beyond seat time and student satisfaction: A curricular approach to residential education. About Campus, 11(5), 9-15.
- Kerr, K. G., Tweedy J., Edwards, K.E., & Kimmel D. (2017). Shifting to Curricular Approaches to Learning beyond the Classroom. About Campus, 22(1), 22-31.
These include:
- Direct connection to WCU's mission of being " a community of educators that develops graduates to succeed personally and professionally and contribute to the common good."
- Learning goals and outcomes that align with an educational priority.
- Programs connected to research and developmental theory.
- An expectation that student leaders and staff will be involved in the delivery of programs and are not expected to be experts in the topics or student development theory.
- Inclusion of campus partners in planning.
- Engagement in a review process.
- Assessing student learning and programs on a regular, ongoing basis.
